Back when Laura and I lived in Naples, NY, I was just getting into setting up and using the database aspect of web design. Before that, I just created static pages for the viewing public. I guess that was “Web 1.0.”
Well, during that time, I had a lot to learn. I think one of the first database driven applications was a little web poll for someone’s site. It wasn’t very complex, but I did have a few questions. The developer had a pretty good forum going on, so I went on in to ask a few questions (believe it or not, I still use the web poll for a few radio station sites I manage today).
I wrote my question in the forum and waited for a response. A little while later, someone politely answered. His name was Will Spence. I thought it was pretty cool, because I never really used this type of thing for communication…forums that is. Will was a good guy and he helped me with a few things. I later spoke with him about some other stuff and became friends with him. Over the years, he has dropped me a few emails, but we really haven’t kept in touch.
Well, just the other day, I recieved an email from Will letting me know that he has a great new project going on to serve the Stem Cell community. I gotta tell ya, Will is always out there trying to make a difference. I told him a long time ago that if I was ever out in his area, I would visit him.
Ok, so here is the pitch - stop by his new website called “Polistem” and, if you think you can help out and make a difference, join in and let your voice be heard. I know for a fact that Will just LOVES it when people get excited about his projects, so…let’s do it.
