Amazon.com Second only to Riverdance as an international Irish showbiz phenomenon, previous installments of this Platinum-selling extravaganza have become beloved PBS standards. The original buxom quartet of female singers, Lisa, Maev, Orla, and Chloe, have duly been joined by Hayley and are, as usual, backed by a full symphony orchestra and choir, plus enough traditional instruments (the house fiddler, Mairead, is a powerhouse) to keep things legit. The material ranges from folkloric ("Dulaman" is best known from Clannad's legendary rendering), to a standard from another Celtic nation ("Caledonia," Dougie McLean's love letter to his native Scotland), to classical lite (Handel's poignant "Laschia Ch'io Pianga"), to movie hits ("Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in a delicately lovely, a cappella, close-harmony treatment), to homegrown New Age (Enya's "Newgrange"). Most tracks are produced to turn, presented in the aural equivalent of Technicolor or day-glo, in which colors pop while diverging ever so slightly from nature. In short, although the album offers fresh material, it covers old ground -- but this is exactly what the act's target audience expects and desires. Fans of acoustic folk would likely find the prevailing aesthetic a touch garish, but fans of Sarah Brightman and Il Divo will be diverted and thrilled. The deluxe package offers four bonus tracks, three of them live, plus a silver claddagh charm. --Christina Roden Celtic Woman Photos More from Celtic Woman Celtic Woman | Walking in the Air, Chloe | Lisa |

A Journey For The Spirit October 16, 2008 Santo Jack Collura (Bedford, Pennsylvania) This CD is a mosaic which combines the genus of David Downes, the talent of six fantastic artists, the richness of Celtic and contemporary music, along with a marvelous orchestra and chorus. Each artist can be heard performing individually as well as together in adaptations of tradition folk music such as "Dulaman", "Scarborough Fair", and" Spanish Lady", adult contemporary which include "Beyond the Sea", the classical pieces of "Lascua Ch'io Pianga, and newer composition in the Celtic style which include "The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun", "At the Ceili, and "Caledonia. Maireasd's solo performances in"Grasssnuaile's Dance", and "Shenandoah-The Pacific Shore" are just as enjoyable as seeing her perform. Listing to her on the CD provides an appreciation of her great talent as a violinist. The music touches the spirit and takes the individual on a journey beyond the senses.
Fantastic Variety of Music July 31, 2008 Purple Violin (USA) This is a wonderful CD containing a variety of traditional Irish, classical and contemporary music. The majority contains vocals by some of the most talented soloists Ireland has to offer, but some of the tracks are fantastic instrumental numbers by the groups violinist, Mairead Nesbitt. She will delight you with her traditional sound and her mastery of the instrument.
Music that will move you May 27, 2008 Kira Marie Hays This CD was one of the first from this group that i have bought and it will continue purchasing their CDs. Each and everyone's voices, singularly and as a whole create a haunting sound that never fails to bring a faraway smile to my face. with the addition of Hayley Westernea and her angelic voice the beauty of each song that she sings with the group and by herself just makes the soungs sound so much better! I would definetly reccomend this CD and all of their albums to anyone who is a fan of celtic music.
Wonderful May 17, 2008 J. Barrett (Sonoma, CA USA) What is there to say, they are wonderful and the music just touches the heart.
