Album Description Holidays with Harry and his 2008 release, What A Night! A Christmas Album. Harry Connick, Jr. is an accomplished singer, pianist, and actor who emerged in the late 1980s as a Sinatra-style crooner for a new generation. Jazzy renditions of classic Christmas tunes.... January 6, 2009 green Husker (North Texas, USA) A nice change of pace from typical Christmas albums... different arrangements, tracks that sound looser and more improvised instead of stiffly-practiced and performed, relaxed and upbeat at the same time. While I don't love every track on this disc, I do enjoy most of them, and that's about what I expect with any album. Nicely done and refreshing.
What A Night! A Christmas Album January 6, 2009 D. West (Los Angeles, CA USA) Harry Connick Jr. provides his own style to some Christmas classics. It may not be your ultimate selection or the style you were expecting, but it is his unmistakable voice with a cool and relaxed feel.
What A Disappointment! January 6, 2009 Larry Flakne (Fulton, MO USA) I love Harry Connick, Jr.'s work, and I have several of his CDs including his last Christmas collection which I pull out first when the holiday season arrives. I was anxious to buy "What A Night!...." and then disappointed when I listened the first time. To me it is a little dull and not nearly as much fun as his other great music.
Weak January 6, 2009 C. Wilson (SCAPPOOSE, OR USA) This sounds like he put it together in a couple hours,if that. His voice sounds off, poor renditions of songs, and that kid of his only makes it worse. Weak, weak album. If you are determined to buy this..get it at Barnes and Noble, You get three more songs. I am a huge Hary fan,but this doesn't cut it.
Great remix of some Chrismas classcs, as well as some original tracks! January 5, 2009 M. Rodriguez (San Antonio, TX) I had personally never heard a jazzy Christmas CD until this one, and I was pleasantly surprised! It is a slow swing/improv type of CD, with many interesting takes on traditional Christmas songs. Let this be a warning to those of you expecting "just another Christmas album". This is not just another celebrity singing the same old Christmas songs. Although there are traditional songs, they have been pretty much completely remixed with swing and improv. Even the words have been slightly modified in some traditional songs.
