Works fine even with Mac. October 20, 2008 Opheltes We just installed this printer yesterday (10/19/2008) on our small wireless network at home. Whatever problems that previous reviewers (and Mac sites) have reported, we didn't have them. Perhaps the drivers have been updated. Included software on the CD worked perfectly from 2 desktops and 3 laptops--one of them a Mac. Yes, the Mac installation worked perfectly the first time, and printed out beautiful pages without gibberish. Excellent printer, amazingly fast.
Great once I gave up on the included drivers October 14, 2008 kujhawk94 (Plainville, KS) I was having difficulty getting the printer to act as a network printer for a group of about eight workstations with the built in driver - I had similar issues with the P1006. However, once I gave up on the included driver and selected a generic PCL5 driver - all worked well. The resulting small footprint networked printer appears to be working well for everyone now.
Great and fast printer August 8, 2008 FFracer (Horseheads, NY United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had an HP 5L, which was a stinkin' pile of.... Printed great, but it had the dreaded feeder problems all the 5L/6L models had. This one seems to work great, starts up fast, seems well made. I use a Belkin 10 ft USB cable with no problems with the length. Installation was easy. Just a tip for installation with no instructions included: do not connect the USB cable until the software on the CD prompts it. i.e. connect the power, get all the packing material out, and shake the cartidge, then put the CD in the PC.
Mac user? AVOID. July 29, 2008 Lord Summerisle (Austin, TX) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just wanted to echo what other reviewers have indicated. As of July 29, 2008, this printer is NOT compatible with Mac. My company bought it for me several months ago; it worked fine for awhile, but last week it suddenly stopped, and after a little research I discovered that this is a problem going back months. Updating the driver didn't solve the problem, and I've just about torn what's left of my hair out and wasted an entire morning trying to deal with the robo-call system at HP.
3 weeks in, no problems so far. July 28, 2008 Ajit Anthony 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
One of those few times, I didn't get the product with the most features. I am so glad I didn't, it is one of favorite electronic purchases. So fast, so efficient. I set up with 3 different computers over a network. They say it takes 6 seconds to wake up and start printing. I feel like it is faster or maybe I am just used to much slower printers. Color printing is so overrated, when I print photographs, I take my pics to the store. For everything else, I use this printer. I write quite a lot and this is the perfect printer for writer.
