I was skeptical about the ability of the ZPen to work on regular paper and I have been pleasantly surprised. I am an engineer working in the construction field and it has done everything I wanted it to do and more.
Now I can create a sketch of a job site condition on the fly and email it to a client without having to scan it first and without ever having to make a paper copy for my records. The included software can save your notes as PDF files for easy exchange with others. Great product.

The pen will record what you write in a digital format that can be looked at emailed, and sent over the computer. The pen does the job just fine for me especially if you read the manual. It isn't the most comfortable pen in the world but it works and does what it is supposed to do. If you have difficulty keeping up with your notes in college this is the pen for you. It has no major re-occurring cost unlike the pulse pen. you can use regular paper and it will work just fine. I would suggest a few things though when using it. Get a clipboard that has a small clip and flip it upside down so that the clip is at the bottom and the receiver can be at the top of the page like it is supposed to be. Be careful not to drop the receiver because it is made out of plastic and is not designed to handle hard impacts.

The Z-Pen does all its advertised to do. You don't need any special paper or ink either! Most of the reviews for this product were posted when the Z-Pen was first released. All of the kinks have been ironed out and it work perfectly

I bought a Z-Pen in high hopes. It worked ok for about 3 sessions and then just stopped working. I have written twice to Dane-Elec Corporation asking them to either send me new pen or return my money. They have not even had the courtesy to reply. Don't buy this product.
