Product Description Sometimes all you need is slim, pocketable protection. Elan Form's simple two-piece shell snaps snug around your iPod. The shell's slender design bonds top-grain leather and hard-shell polycarbonate, so your iPod is encased in two layers of protection. Installing the Elan Form is a cinch. Just put your iPod in the top casing, then snap the back into place. To open the case, insert a coin into the notch in the bottom corner and gently twist.

A Star for Each Well-Designed Feature I Appreciate December 27, 2008 Michelle Mucker (San Francisco, California USA) This case does what it says it will well. That's always a call for a high score. This case also goes above and beyond the call of duty. Most device cases are poorly made, look awful, and damage your device or have a hard time keeping it clean. This case doesn't disappoint in any category when compared to other cases in its price range. If you're looking for a clean, decently constructed case that fits your Ipod like a glove, while providing protection from life's inconceivables, at $34.99 or less this case is probably your best best. 1 star for keeping my Ipod Touch 2G looking sleek and sexy. Simple design that does not take anything away from Apple's intentions of a beautiful product is priceless. 1 star for fitting my Ipod like a glove. Once it's on, it's on, and that's something to look for in a case. I don't want my case coming off when I drop it or letting dirt and dust wedge itself in between the case and Ipod. This case is so tight once it's on, I can't get it off unless I really try. 1 star for materials. Polycarbonate and leather combine for the ultimate combination of precise, durable and lightweight fabrication, resulting in impact resistant, hard shell protection that is soft to the touch and provides a tactile grip. 1 star for price. At $34.99 retail this case is not more expensive than the rest of them, but it is better fitting, better made, and better looking. -1 star for not being perfectly made. The leather is cut and then glued onto the polycarbonate and in some of the cases I perused the flaws of this construction technique are very noticeable. On mine, I can see the edge of the leather in a certain spot, (I'm apparently the only one who can see it) and on another I could see a small gap in between the leather and plastic where the glue was exposed and dust became trapped. (For those of you who want an impeccable hard shell leather case try Vaja cases, which start at $60 and can be fully customized.) The case comes with a screen protector and a cleaning cloth, though I do not and would not use either primarily. I highly recommend PowerSupport screen protectors to keep your screen looking brilliant. You can choose from an anti-glare screen protector for matte protection that is almost fingerprint-proof or a crystal thin-film to maintain that beautiful glossy display. For a cleaning cloth, Iklear usually has a combination pack that comes with the spray, cloths and travel packs. It's a must-have for any geek or gadget freak. For timeless good looks and lightweight protection I give this a 4 out of 5.
Not worth the money November 20, 2008 C. Chang (OC, CA) When I bought it from e-bay, they showed a photo of the case for the 1st generation which has more coverage and protection on the touch screen. the workmanship of this 2nd generation one is not as good as the previous one. it's just a plastic case with a piece of lather stick son the back. the case fits pretty well, but the screen protector sucks. the two top corners just won't stay. I believe it will start collecting dust under those corners pretty soon. I just need to get another screen protector for my I-touch. and this case really doesn't worth the money.
Snug fit (perhaps too snug), only average protection, absence of real value November 8, 2008 monoblocks (Seattle, WA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Here we go again...another month, another MP3 device (32GB 2G Touch, my latest addition). I bought this case at the local Apple Store, mostly because I didn't want to wait. Shockingly amazed at how little a twenty, ten and a fiver (plus sales tax) will get you; disgusting how these companies charge so much for such piddly content. Perhaps the nicest thing--I'm trying to be NICE, mind you--about the elan Form case is the two-piece, cracked leather-like textured plastic back. With the back in place, the Touch no longer seems like it wants to squirt out of my hands like some giant, rogue watermelon seed...like when it's completely au natural without any sort of protection cladding. For the Touch's front face, Griffin supplies a thick, clear sheet of plastic mylar-type film that adheres to the front of the Touch. It went on fairly easy and without too much in the way of trapped air bubbles but to Griffin's discredit they didn't provide any sort of straightedge to squeegee the air pockets out as other film products I've bought for other devices before have. Instead I had fish for my wallet to make do with one of my credit cards as a substitute smoothing tool. Unfortunately all that (semi)hard work in making the front protection look good was immediately ruined as soon as I slipped the backing pieces onto the Touch. The act of sliding the main upper piece on lifted up the edge of the film and allowed air to be reintroduced all along the edges down the sides of the Touch, in the end making for a rather unsightly looking front panel. Equally unfortunately, this back piece is darn near impossible to slip back off because of how snug the fit is. The bottom piece slips on and off easily for docking, but for the safety and well-being of the Touch itself I can forget about taking that top half off again, at least without taking a screwdriver or similarly bladed tool to pry the bloody thing off...and risk damaging the Touch at the same time. As for the most important issue--protection--while the back of the Touch is now well protected against scratches (unless you create some when the bottom portion is off the device, like when docking the unit into speaker system or some other dock), the front of the Touch is only casually protected. A sheet of plastic film will only go so far. The Touch's front face may be safe from scratches or fingerprint smudges with the film but there's only minimal protection from impact. As form-fitting as the elan Form is, its protective abilities only goes so far. Perhaps even more irritating are the cutouts for the volume switch on the Touch's left side and the power switch on top; the back piece's thickness make getting to these switches a pain to do. I can't really recommend this case to anyone unless you really, REALLY have to have a case that shows off the Touch's form, and you're deeply into faux cracked leather texture deftly rendered in black plastic. Whatever. For me, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight I tend to think a flip case would've been a better solution; the only problem is that at this time there are few if any examples to choose from for the 2G Touch. And to complicate matters now I'd have to face trying to get that bloody tight elan Form case off FIRST before ANY OTHER protective solution can even be considered. Boy, I hope I don't have this sort of hell when I finally find and buy a case solution from my Android G1 (a nice-sounding music device, by the way...even with the standard toss-in earphones and the stupid USB-only port). BTW, Amazon's picture on the product page is WRONG (at least as of 11/7/08); the embedded picture is of some OTHER case, not the elan Form for the 2G Touch.
Fit perfectly and looks good. October 31, 2008 A Rochino (Boston, MA) The fit was perfect for the 2nd generation iPod Touch. I had absolutely no issue with placing it into the case. Mine is the 32GB version. The only room for improvement is that the screen protector is a stick-on one that may not give enough protection for the screen...time will tell. But so far I'm happy with the fit and finish of the product otherwise.
Pretty Pleased October 30, 2008 Lavado Townsend (Cleveland, OH USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This case fits perfectly for my ipod touch 35gig 2g. It still looks slim while feeling protected. Its very durable, and the buttons remain easily accesable. my only complaint is that the screen protector although perfectly sized, and doesn't make touch screen harder to navigate, there is a spot in the corner and on the side won't stay down and in its place is an annoying bubble. But this doesn't really effect the score since replacements are cheap and this might had just been an isolated problem. i give it -1 star because if you are plugging it into most speakers then you will have to remove the bottom portion of the case for a decent fit.
